Situation:
You have your own set of standard parts and you just use the Place component tool.
Problem:
It’s taking you time to find the components that you need which gives you another requirement and that is having a database like mind with thumbnails and all the other exact details.
Solution:
For example, you have a screw and you use varying lengths of that screw. What you could do is just to create an iPart of that screw and then publish it via Content Center using the Publish Part functionality.
However, do not forget to create a new library using the Vault Manager so that you can add the library (read/write) using the Configure Content Center Libraries for your Project Settings. Create your own categories using the Content Center Editor which is accessible inside Autodesk Inventor.

Situation:
You use multiple project files.
Problem:
Using multiple project files or creating additional project files creates an additional work which is setting the properties of the project files. In addition to that, your project workspace becomes cluttered.
Solution:
Use only one project file. Standardize project settings. Create a folder for each project (not an Inventor project file) and create frequently used subfolders for it.

Situation:
The company uses their own set of standard parts and they are all located locally on the computers of your design engineers.
Problem:
Design Engineer 1 adds another standard part and then he forgot to advise Design Engineer 2 that there is a new standard part.
Solution:
ADMS 5 must be installed on the server with the Content Center Libraries. Client workstations should not have ADMS 5 and Content Center Libraries installed. Instead of logging into localhost as the server name, use the computer name of the server where ADMS 5 is installed.
